Endorsement of the informal agreement on changes to the IORPs Directive

The European Parliament's plenary session formally endorsed on 24 November 2016 the informal agreement reached with the other EU institutions on a draft proposal bringing changes to the IORPs Directive.

Under the updated rules, providers of workplace pension schemes wanting to move their operations across national borders would have to get the approval of a majority of their members, as well as the backing of regulators in both the host and recipient country.

The draft law was originally proposed by the European Commission in March 2014.
