Endorsement of proposal providing additional assistance to member states affected by natural disasters

The Council of the European Union's permanent representatives committee backed on 29 March 2017 a proposal to increase support for regions affected by earthquaks, floods, droughts and other natural disasters.

The proposal was put forward by the European Commission in November 2016. The endorsement agreed by the committee allowed for negotiations with the European Parliament to start.
