Endorsement of a proposal on access to anti-money-laundering information by tax authorities

The European Parliament's plenary session endorsed on 22 November 2016 the proposal for tax authorities across the European Union to automatically share information about bank account holders.

The updated rules enable and oblige tax authorities with anti-money laundering responsibilities in any member state to automatically share information such as bank account balances, interest income and dividends, with their counterparts in other member states.

The amendments to the Directive 2011/16/EU was released by the European Commission in July 2016.
