Employment problems in new states trouble EU

Article previews the publication of a report by the European Commission on 21 February 2003 which criticises labour markets and employment policies in the candidate countries. Commission officials are concerned that failure to address these countries' problems will make it even more difficult for the European Union to meet the ambitious economic targets set at the Lisbon Summit in 2000.
