Employment in the manufacturing sector decreased between 1999 and 2004 in the EU-15, especially in the high tech manufacturing sector. However, employment in total services increased during the same period, in particular in the High Tech ‘Knowledge Intensive Services’ (KIS). German regions were in the lead in high and medium high tech manufacturing in 2004 while capital regions specialised in KIS. |
