Electricity from renewable energy sources. Encouraging green electricity in Europe

This brochure explains the EU directive on electricity from renewable energy sources. Current technologies for green electricity generation are summarised and the directive is set in the wider context of European and international commitments on greenhouse gas emissions and the security of energy supply perspective. Various national support schemes for promoting green electricity are summarised and the directive's provisions aimed at overcoming barriers to implementation are described.
