The Spanish Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Miguel Arias Cañete, appeared before the Spanish Parliament on 4 November 2002 to inform ministers about the European Commission's intention to take action against Spanish flax growers for alleged fraud. He reminded ministers that the government would act as interlocutor for the independent authorities (Comunidades Autónomas; CCAA).
