Eighty Romanian officials charged

The mayor of the Romanian capital, Bucharest, Traian Basescu, who was a former Transport Minister, and 79 other former ministers and senior officials have been charged with corruption. The charges are connected with the sale of 16 ships by the state-owned Petromin company to a Norwegian enterprise in the 1990s, prosecutors said.
