Date: 31/10/02 THE European Investment Bank has agreed a €50 million loan to help Turkey to kit out its schools with new computer technology. The loan to the Turkish Ministry of National Education will set up 6,800 special 'IT classrooms' in 5,100 schools for 6-14 year olds. The EIB-funded project is the second round of a plan that will eventually install IT equipment in 11,000 schools. The World Bank has already contributed to phase one of the plan, which provided 3,188 IT classrooms in 2,802 schools.
