The European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning (EUCIS-LLL) is an umbrella association that gathers 39 European organisations active in the field of education and training, coming from all EU Member States and beyond. Currently these networks represent more than 50 000 educational institutions (schools, universities, adult education and youth centres, etc.) or associations (involving students, teachers and trainers, parents, HRD professionals, etc.) covering all sectors of formal, non-formal and informal learning. Their members reach out to several millions of beneficiaries. In 2015, it celebrated its 10th anniversary, and adopted a shortened name and new visual identity: it is now called the Lifelong Learning Platform! In this Position Paper the authors explore how education may be the mean to establish a holistic and sustainable society, using long-term and wholesome solutions. The Platform suggests that by promoting active educational settings, these will carry within them the inclusiveness needed to create the wide collaborative communities enabled to protect our democratic societies. |
