Economic reform: Market integration helps deliver lower utility prices

Economic reforms of product and capital markets are key to achieving the objectives of growth, competitiveness, full employment and transition to the knowledge-based economy defined at the Lisbon European Council. The third Commission report now shows that the process of economic reform started at Cardiff under the UK presidency has contributed to creating a consensus on the need for structural reforms at Community and national levels.
