Economic Dialogue and Exchange of Views with the President of the Council (ECOFIN), 14 June 2016

Mr Jeroen Dijsselbloem, Minister of Finance of the Netherlands, participated in the ECON meeting of the European Parliament on the 14 June 2016 in his capacity as the current President of the ECOFIN Council during the Dutch Presidency (January - June 2016).

The exchange of views also covered an Economic Dialogue on the implementation of the 2016 European Semester Cycle. According to the Treaty of the Union, Member States shall regard their economic policies as a matter of common concern and shall coordinate them within the Council.

This briefing covered the implementation of the Stability and Growth Pact, the Macro-economic Imbalance Procedure, the Country Specific Recommendations and the latest developments in completing the Banking Union.
