Book abstract: The author's specific aim for this book is to provide a succinct and reader-friendly account of those Community legislative measures which form the core of EC Transport Law and which have been adopted within the ambit of establishing a Common Transport Policy. Development of the Common Transport Policy is traced in chapter one and the Legislative Framework is set out in chapter two. Measures adopted in order to remove obstacles to access to the internal market, representing positive liberalisation, are covered in chapters three and four and indirect liberalisation issues are dealt with in chapter five. Three problems specific to the transport industry are the focus of chapter six; combined transport, the provision and maintenance of infrastructure and the financing of infrastructure. Competition Rules, state aids and external relations are three areas of Community Law having a direct impact on transport undertakings operating within the European Community and these are covered in the final chapter. The work is primarily written for students of EC Law but will interest scholars and policy researchers in the transport field. Rosa Greaves is Allen & Overy Professor of European Law and Director of the Durham European Law Institute at the University of Durham. |
