Abstract: The Court of Justice’s recent judgment in Soysal (C-228/06) has required at least some Member States to drop visa requirements for at least some categories of Turkish nationals entering the Community. It also addresses important questions relating to the interaction
between different rules on the Court of Justice’s jurisdiction, as well as the conflict and interaction between the rules governing the EC-Turkey association agreement and EC immigration law more broadly.
