EBRD warns of impact of eurozone cuts

Report from the annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development held in Zagreb, 14-15 May 2010.

Stark austerity measures being adopted in countries such as Greece, Spain and Portugal could weaken the economic recovery in parts of central and eastern Europe, the EBRD warned.

The countries of eastern Europe face an uncertain period of recovery out of the global economic crisis, with increasing differences in the pace of growth across countries, and new risks arising from fiscal pressures and financial volatility in western Europe.
