In recent years important steps forward have been undertaken in the development of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS) in order to develop the policy, legal and financial support instruments in the field of asylum. The strategic guidelines for the further development of the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) area adopted by the European Council in June 2014, calling for a stronger role of the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) particularly in promoting the coherent application of the acquis. The work programme was adjusted in march 2015.
