Book abstract: The area of e-business law and the internet is as dynamic and increasingly popular as it is problematic. Although it is undoubtedly transforming the way business is conducted forever in the ever-expanding information society that Europe is becoming, it raises many legal issues and questions for consideration. This book, compiled by numerous lawyers, consists of the relevant EU legislation on e-business and the various regulatory initiatives and directives that accompany it, as well as a concise introduction which summarises and explains the source documents used for the benefit of those unfamiliar with the material. One of its aims is to provide lucid information and to facilitate greater understanding of a complex, difficult and continuously developing legal area. The book is separated into two major parts. The first, the introductory material, offers general discussions on the Directive on Electronic Commerce, the internal market, contracts and liability. It goes on to address consumer protection, copyrights, database rights, data protection and private international law, as well as examining taxation, electronic money and electronic signatures. Part two contains the actual source directives, proposals, decisions, and regulations themselves. This book is a reference guide for lawyers, practitioners, business-executives or law students interested in the field. |
