The town of Vaals in the southern province of Limburg in the Netherlands is to start turning away jobless foreigners. Newcomers from elsewhere in the European Union on benefits are a drain on the wealth of the town, the local council argued in the summer of 2011. The European Commission has called for an explanation from The Hague.
