Summary: Definitive Adoption of Amending Budget No. 5 of the European Union (EU) for the financial year 2020, upon completion of procedure under Article 314 TFEU. Further information: The purpose of DAB No 5 is to continue providing support to refugees and host communities in response to the crisis in Syria. Under Heading 4 of the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) relating to Global Europe, €100 million in commitment and payment appropriations are to be provided as resilience support to refugees and host communities in Jordan and Lebanon, whereas €485 million in commitment appropriations and €68 million in payment appropriations are to be provided to ensure the continuation of urgent humanitarian support to refugees in Turkey. The initiative was adopted by the European Commission on 3 June 2020. The Council of the European Union endorsed it on 25 June, followed by the plenary of the European Parliament on 10 July. The definitive adoption was published in the Official Journal on 11 September 2020. |
