Directive 2000/53/EC on end of life vehicles: UK government consultation paper

The end of life vehicles (ELV) Directive (2000/53/EC) came into force on 21 October 2000. It set tightened environmental standards for the scrapping of end of vehicles from 2002 onwards. It also set new recycling targets for 2006 and 2015. This consultation document set out the preliminary considerations of the UK Government on implementation options under the Directive.
