SCADPlus enhancement

A very simple and obvious improvement has been made to the SCADPlus website at http://europa.eu.int/scadplus. The site contains summaries of legislation, a useful starting point to save ploughing through entire legislative texts. It was frustrating however to have to go elsewhere to read the full text when more information was needed. Now however the site provides hyperlinks to the texts in CELEX. Links are also there to other recent documents such as communications and reports. The value of SCADPlus has been considerably enhanced by this development.

CORDIS FP6 glossary

Potential participants in the Community's framework programmes have long struggled with the terminology. CND for example has nothing to do with the peace movement. Instead it stands for Communication Network Development, which is a “Specific Support Action within the Research infrastructures activity of FP6”. And what are they? CORDIS has now produced a glossary for the Sixth Framework Programme at http://fp6.cordis.lu/fp6/glossary.cfm. It includes brief definitions of terms relating to the process, projects, contracts, and financial arrangements (though the definitions often lead to even more questions). The glossary contains abbreviations with cross-referencing to what they stand for as well as terms. Many of the entries also provide links to key documents. While completing the submissions will still not be simple, the glossary will at least offer some help in cutting through the jargon.
