European Grants Locator

Covering just EU grants, European Grants Locator has moved from CD ROM and is now only a web-based product. It is updated approximately every two weeks, and sometimes more frequently. The web site allows access to an EU Grants Map showing areas of the world covered by funding, and an EU Grants Summary which can be downloaded from the site for £30. The 1999 Grants Summary will become available this month and will also be offered as a printed booklet or on CD ROM. The main section, however, is the database of around 400 funding opportunities which offers the latest calls for proposals, information about the objectives, current priorities, deadlines, rates, application timetables, contact names and addresses and partnership requirements as well as the application forms and guidance notes for downloading. The very brief contents details can be browsed freely, but to make the link to obtain further information, a user name and password is required. No search facility is offered other than selection by broad area of interest such as environment; education and training; health and social welfare; transport; women, children and the elderly. Costs are £50 monthly or £270 per annum. It is also possible to register to be e-mailed each time new grant calls or amendments are added. The Grants Locator web site uses frames and different browsers appeared to cause problems with the text. The web site can be visited at http://www.europeangrants.com/.
