Depressed EU staff struggle to fix ‘image problem’

EurActiv reported that civil servants in the EU institutions were struggling to defend their image in the face of growing pressures to cut pay and increase working time. In response, trade unions had made in December 2011 their own proposals for savings as part of the Europe-wide austerity drive.

EU staff are said also to increasingly demoralised over the changing role of European institutions.
