The Danish Energy Agency (Energistyrelsen) announced on the 12 May 2015 that they would allow drilling to resume at Total’s shale gas exploration site in Vendsyssel, Denmark.

Denmark is one of the few European countries alongside the United Kingdom, Poland and Romania that allowed fracking.

In August 2015 it was announced that Total was pulling out of its shale gas exploration project in northern Denmark after failing to find sufficient deposits.
