Delegates land their first big success with deal to prevent over-fishing

An agreement to prevent over-fishing in international waters and restore stocks of threatened species was reached on 27 August 2002 at the World Summit on Sustainable Development. The agreement was pushed by the European Union and will be included in the final text for the Summit's plan of action
