Declaration by the High Representative, Federica Mogherini, on behalf of the European Union on the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, 9 August 2016

On the 8 August 2016, a declaration was made by High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the European Commission, Federica Mogherini, on the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. She outlined the contributions of the indigenous people to the world’s cultural diversity and reaffirmed the European Union’s commitment to promote and protect the rights of those people.
