Summary:Decision (EU) 2023/1558 - adopted by the co-legislators on 12 July 2023 - mobilising the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2023/001 BE/LNSA. Further information:The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. Belgium submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF in February 2023, seeking to address displacements in Logistics Nivelles SA (LNSA), a provider of logistics services for food and drinks, and one supplier in Belgium. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met. On 6 June 2023, the Commission adopted a draft Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €2.2 million in respect of the application submitted by the Belgian authorities. The Council of the European Union endorsed it on 12 June, followed by the plenary of the European Parliament on 11 July. The Decision was formally signed by the co-legislators on 12 July 2023 and published in the Official Journal on 28 July 2023. |
