Summary: Decision (EU) 2022/48 - adopted by the co-legislators on 15 December 2021 - which mobilises the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2021/003 IT/Porto Canale. Further information: The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. On 15 July 2021, Italy submitted an application for a financial contribution from the EGF, following displacements in Porto Industriale di Cagliari SpA. Following an assessment of this application, the European Commission concluded that the conditions for awarding a financial contribution from the EGF had been met. It therefore tabled on 28 October 2021 a proposal for a Decision to allocate a financial contribution of around €1.5 million in respect of the application submitted by Italy. The proposed Decision was signed off by the co-legislators on 15 December 2021 and published in the Official Journal on 14 January 2022. |
