Summary: Decision (EU) 2022/457 - formally signed by the co-legislators on 9 March 2022 - which mobilises the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) in response to application EGF/2022/000 TA 2022 concerning technical assistance at the initiative of the European Commission. Further information: The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aims to provide support for workers made redundant and self-employed persons whose activity has ceased as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns due to globalisation, as a result of a continuation of the global financial and economic crisis, or as a result of a new global financial and economic crisis, and to assist them with their reintegration into the labour market. The rules applicable to financial contributions from the EGF are laid down in Regulation (EU) 2021/691. In accordance with its Article 11(1), a maximum of 0,5% of the annual maximum amount of the EGF may be made available each year for technical assistance at the initiative of the European Commission. The Commission tabled a draft Decision on 26 January 2022 aimed at mobilising €290,000 from the EGF for technical assistance. The European Parliament endorsed the proposal on 8 March 2022. The Act was signed by the co-legislators on the following day, and published in the Official Journal on 22 March 2022. |
