Summary: Council Decision of 21 May 2019 on the composition of the Committee of the Regions (CoR). Further information: Article 305 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) provides that the number of members of the CoR shall not exceed 350. The withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union would result in 24 vacant seats in the Committee. The current term of office of the CoR will come to an end on 25 January 2020. Therefore, it is necessary that the Council decides on the composition of the Committee before the launch of the procedure for the renewal of the Committee for the period 2020-2025. |
