Summary: Council Decision on the position to be adopted on behalf of the Union within the EU-Israel Association Council regarding the extension of the EU-Israel Action Plan. Further information: The Euro-Mediterranean Agreement establishing an Association between the European Communities and their Member States, of the one part, and the State of Israel, of the other part, entered into force in 2000. The Association Council proposed the adoption of a recommendation on the extension of the EU-Israel Action Plan to ensure the continuation of the cooperation between the two parties, including the possible negotiation of partnership priorities. In November 2018 the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy presented a joint proposal on the position to be taken on behalf of the Union, which was approved by the Council of the European Union on 20 December. A recommendation approving the extension of the EU-Israel Action Plan for a further three years was adopted by the Association Council on 27 December. |
