Summary: Council Decision of 18 September 2018 establishing the position to be taken on behalf of the Union regarding the adoption of the Rules of Procedure of the Joint Committee. Further information: The Agreement between the European Union and the Swiss Confederation on the linking of their greenhouse gas emissions trading systems aims to connect the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) with the Swiss one, by permitting allowances issued in one system to be traded and used for compliance in the other one, expanding the opportunities for climate change mitigation. The Agreement was signed in November 2017. The Joint Committee, a bilateral body composed by representatives of the Parties, is responsible for administering the Agreement and ensuring its implementation. On 31 May 2018 the European Commission presented a proposal for a Council Decision on the position to be taken on behalf of the Union regarding the adoption of the Rules of Procedure of the Joint Committee.
