Article reports that a big expansion of nuclear power in the United Kingdom was launched on the 29 April 2009 as a German consortium comprising RWE and Eon bought two sites at Wylfa and Oldbury for building new reactor plants and committed itself to a huge investment programme.

The German consortium's announcement gives Britain a second strong nuclear generator to compete with EDF of France, which acquired the third of the sites which was on offer at this time at Bradwell.
