The parliament of Cyprus approved on the 5 September 2013 financial reforms required to receive the second tranche of its bailout program. The government needed two votes in parliament to overcome resistance by the opposition following a stormy debate.

The Cypriot parliament approved key financial legislation aimed at placing the country's cooperative banks under central bank control.
