Abstract:

This work bucks the trend for comparative studies made between the EU and the US or the European Community and NAFTA, being comprised of papers written in the main by Canadians or those who have close ties with Canada.

The book is organised in four parts. Following and introduction part one addresses the EU-Canada link and the strategies for comparing the two entities. Part two looks at governance, examining what the EU might learn from Canada. Part three looks at policies in an intergovernmental context. It considers what Canada and NAFTA might learn from the EU and explores such issues as environmental policy, single currency and exchange rate management. The fourth part considers policies for nation building in both the EU and Canada and deals with issues such as immigration and cultural policy.

The work will interest scholars and students engaged in the fields of Comparative politics, International relations and Inter-regional studies.
