EUObserver published in July 2015 a feature on plans of the Croatian government to build an over-sea bridge between its southern and northern regions, separated by the Neum corridor, which belongs to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

First mentioned in 1995, it found Bosnia's opposition at first - which was dropped ten years later - and economic difficulties due to the crisis hitting Europe in 2008. Having access to potential funding from the European Union, the Croatian saw in 2015 a new opportunity to start the project at last.
