Croatia's prime minister Tihomir Oreskovic was ousted on 16 June 2016 in a no-confidence vote in parliament, five months after taking office. Most MPs voted against him staying in office. The motion was put forward by the biggest party in the governing coalition, HDZ, which had fallen out with the Mr Oreskovic over a conflict of interest case. Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic urged parliament on the 17 June 2016 to dissolve itself 'as soon as possible', which would pave the way for early elections. Parliament voted for dissolution on the 20 June 2016. |
