Summary: Regulation (EU) 2022/555 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 5 April 2022 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EC) No 168/2007 establishing the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (EU FRA). Further information: Regulation (EC) No 168/2007 established the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), an EU-level body providing assistance and expertise relating to fundamental rights in the European Union. The Act lays down the agency's main tasks and objectives, functioning and internal governance. In light of the findings of the external evaluation and internal analysis, the European Commission tabled on 5 June 2020 a proposal introducing some targeted technical amendments to the founding Regulation. These aimed at aligning certain provisions with the Common Approach on decentralised agencies agreed between the EU institutions in July 2012, and also clarifying the scope of the activities of the Agency since the entry into force of the Lisbon Treaty. The proposed Regulation was adopted by the Council of the European Union on 5 April 2022. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 7 April 2022 |
