Summary: Regulation (EU) 2021/2278 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 20 December 2021 - suspending theĀ Common Customs Tariff (CCT) duties referred to in Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 on certain agricultural and industrial products, and also repealing Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013. Further information: Regulation (EU) No 952/2013 established the Union Customs Code (UCC), setting out the general rules and procedures applicable to goods brought into or taken out of the customs territory of the European Union (EU). Council Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013 presents a set of agricultural and industrial products for which the autonomous Common Customs Tariff is suspended. This Act is updated every six months to accommodate the needs of the EU industry. As a result, the Regulation was amended 15 times since it was first adopted. Moreover, there was a need to make amendments to the Combined Nomenclature codes listed in the Annex to the Regulation, due to the adoption of Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/1832. This Regulation reviews the suspension the CCT duties and replaces Regulation (EU) No 1387/2013. It was tabled by the European Commission on 18 November 2021. The Council of the European Union adopted the draft law on 20 December 2021. The Act was published in the Official Journal on 29 December 2021. |
