Summary: Regulation (EU) 2021/2002 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 15 November 2021 - introducing amendments to Regulation (EU) 2021/90 on the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks and groups of fish stocks applicable in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. Further information: Council Regulation (EU) 2021/90 fixed the annual fishing opportunities for fish stocks and groups of fish stocks applicable in the Mediterranean and Black Seas. This Regulation implements in EU law the multiannual management plan for turbot fisheries in the Black Sea. At its 44th annual meeting, the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) adopted a decision observing that the EU had underexploited its quota for turbot and approving a carry-over of the unused quota in view of the exceptional situation created by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. On 10 September 2021, the European Commission tabled a legislative initiative aimed at amending the relevant Council Regulation accordingly. The Council of the European Union adopted the proposal on 15 November 2021. The text was published in the Official Journal on 17 November 2021. |
