Summary:Decision (CFSP) 2022/2244 - adopted by the Council of the European Union on 14 November 2022 - concerning the participation of the United Kingdom (UK) in the PESCO project Military Mobility. Further information:The Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) was set up in 2017 to enable Member States of the European Union (EU) to work more closely together in the area of security and defence. This framework for defence cooperation allows willing and able countries to jointly develop defence capabilities, invest in shared projects, and enhance the operational readiness and contribution of their armed forces. The PESCO project Military Mobility is a strategic platform enabling the swift and seamless movement of military personnel and assets throughout the EU, whether by rail, road, air or sea. The Council of the European Union adopted Decision (CFSP) 2020/1639 in November 2020, which established the general conditions under which third countries could exceptionally be invited to participate in individual PESCO projects. The present Decision confirms the participation of the UK in the Military Mobility project. The Decision was adopted by the Council on 14 November 2022 and published in the Official Journal on the following day. |
