Summary:Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union on 7 March 2023, focusing on skills and competences for the green transition. Further information:Labour shortages in sectors considered key for the green transition doubled between 2015 and 2021. At the same time, green transition skills are also in growing demand. These conclusions were adopted is response to conclusions adopted by the European Council in February 2023 addressing the need to further develop the skills that are required for the green and digital transitions through education, training, upskilling and reskilling. In these conclusions, the Council invites the Member States to engage education and training providers, research organisations, employers, social partners and other relevant stakeholders in jointly identifying reskilling and upskilling needs for the green transition including public-private cooperation. They were adopted by the Council at a meeting on 7 March 2023 and published in the Official Journal on 14 March 2023. |
