CORDIS celebrates 15 years of R+D support, January 2006

CORDIS was initially launched in 1990 with just three databases but now provides more than 200 services and over 210,000 pages on the web. It contains a wealth of information about research and development, including details of the research programmes, funding, partners, publications and results. As well as the facility to download documents and forms, interactive possibilities allow for the direct submission of proposals and other information. In addition to the key content on the site it was the policy of free access and, above all, the move to the web which helped generate the huge growth in usage. The latest change is the move from the .lu domain to the europa domain, removing any confusion about the official status of the information provided. The site’s URL is now {http://cordis.europa.eu.int}.
