Consultation document. The water framework directive. Guiding principles on the technical requirements.

This consultation document on the EC Water Framework Directive (Directive 2000/60/EC) which came into force in December 2000, was presented by the Environment Agency of England and Wales and is part of an ongoing information and consultation process. It focuses on the Directive's important but complex technical annexes, Annex II and Annex V. These annexes set out how the condition of the water environment will be assessed, monitored and classified. The deadline for responses was the end of September 2002. The document has been divided into three parts for ease of downloading and there is also a final summary document. Download time of each part ranges from 3 to 6 minutes.
