The French President, Jacques Chirac, in his press conference of 21 March 2003, referred to the war in Iraq, to the Near East, the Lisbon strategy, the Single Market, the telecommunications sector and to issues surrounding the 'Prestige' accident of November 2002, as well as to other topics which were discussed at the Council.
