Summary: Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union on 25 June 2020 concerning the response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic in the European Union's energy sector. The document was approved via written procedure. Further information: The Council expresses its appreciation for staff in the energy sector for their efforts to ensure the continuous operations of the European energy system during the pandemic, and highlights fundamental role of the energy sector in the EU's economic recovery. This document also acknowledges the need for initiatives to support a robust sectoral recovery plan and the need to further incentivise future decarbonisation investments. The Council urges the European Commission to continue its work alongside the Member States in the framework of the European Green Deal and its investment plan. The Council also calls on the Council to table an Action Plan and a roadmap for hydrogen. |
