Summary: The Council of the European Union adopted on 5 December 2019 a set of conclusions setting out objectives for a further deepening of the capital markets union (CMU). Further information: Capital Markets Union (CMU) is an initiative from the European Union (EU) which aims to deepen and further integrate the capital markets of EU member states. The original Action Plan was launched in 2015 and most of its initiatives were adopted by the European Union. Nevertheless, the Council argues that regulatory and other barries still hampered smooth movement of capital and access to financial products and services in the financial sector. The conclusions set out five main objectives for further deepening the CMU:
