Summary: Set of conclusions adopted by the Council of the European Union on 25 May 2020 relating to risk management in the area of cultural heritage. Further information: The conclusions recall the importance of protecting cultural heritage against various types of risks threatening it (natural hazards, climate change and man-made disasters), and recognise that crises such as the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic have a considerable negative impact on the cultural and creative sectors. Member States are invited invited to identify innovative tools and approaches for risk identification, prevention and mitigation. The conclusions also raise awareness that disaster prevention and preparedness require intervention and planning on multiple levels in order to be able to adequately respond to risks. |
