Summary: Communication published by the European Commission on 23 June 2021, comprising the second progress report regarding the implementation of the EU Security Union Strategy. Further information: The latest EU Security Union Strategy was adopted in July 2020, building upon progress achieved under the European Agenda on Security 2015-2020 and targeting action on priority areas where the European Union (EU) can bring added value to national efforts. The latest Strategy aims to provide a fresh focus, to ensure that EU security policy reflects the changing threat landscape. This progress report covers the period since the previous report and charts the progress made in all four pillars of the strategy: a future-proof security environment, tackling evolving threats, protecting Europe from terrorism and organised crime, and a strong European security ecosystem. It sets out how this work is being taken forward, including the specific contribution of EU agencies. The report was published on 23 June 2021 as part of a wider package of documents relating to cyber-security and the Security Union. |
