The Committee of European Securities Regulators (CESR) was established by the European Commission Decision of June 2001. This decision was taken in the light of the recommendation of the Report of the Committee of Wise Men on the Regulation of European Securities Markets (Lamfalussy Report), as endorsed by the European Council(Stockholm Resolution, 23 March 2001) and the European Parliament (Resolution, 5 February 2002 ). CESR is an independent Committee regrouping senior representatives from national public authorities competent in the field of securities. CESR has taken over the work of the Forum of European Securities Commission (FESCO).
